A Night Out With Buddies From College At A Local College Tavern Leads To Abusive And Irresponsible Drinking And An Alcohol Overdose

When Lois was in high school, she had obtained a reputation as a person who studied much of the time and who rarely, if ever, whooped it up by drinking with her buddies. She seemed passionate about excelling academically so that she would be able to pursue a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her a degree of security from a financial point of view.

After Lois finished high school, she applied to and was accepted into a leading program in linguistics. Her justification for this decision was that this academic discipline would be a good springboard for law school and would not be similar to the preponderance of law school applicants who decide to take political science as their undergraduate major.

Lois was the type of individual who worked thoroughly to finish what she was doing and then would take some time off when she could. As is the case, nonetheless, virtually all of the things she did between terms or during summer breaks were unrelated to drinking. Evidently, Lois was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were done and being delighted with the fact that she had done very well on her tests, because of this, she wanted to take a break and do some celebrating.

So Lois and a number of her friends from the university went to a local saloon where they had a few glasses of wine. As the evening proceeded, Lois and her buddies continued to drink. Indeed, she was having such an incredible time that she didn't want the night to come to an end.

After drinking about fifty minutes when Lois began to speak in a confused manner, slur her words, and then pass out, in spite of this, her buddies instantly realized that they needed to call that they needed to call 911, the emergency number, and ask for emergency assistance because they suspected that Lois was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was attentive to the fact that she came close to losing her life from an alcohol overdose and, consequently, was gratified to be alive. At the same time, nonetheless, she was somewhat dejected knowing that she had almost passed away the previous night. Her Mother and Father were aware how intensely she worked at the university and how little she permitted herself to socialize with her pals. Nonetheless, they also realized that Lois needed to avoid abusive and irresponsible drinking.

Consequently, they recommended that down the road, whenever a drinking opportunity develops, that she always drink responsibly and in moderation. Lois was in agreement with this and promised her Mother and Father and her friends that she would never again drink in an irresponsible and excessive manner. In Lois's own words, "I never pondered the fact that I might become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local city newspaper. I now understand that abusive and careless drinking is not the best for me. I give my word of honor that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "book smart" but she also displayed a lot of. Stated more explicitly, she rapidly knew that she had made an error and made up her mind that she would not make the same mistake again. Indeed, she now realized that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this kind of careless and irresponsible drinking can result in a loss of life.
