A Couple Of The Several Advancements In Carbide Inserts From Iscar Over The Last Decade

Iscar is announcing a brand new unique milling system with tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has significant advantages in comparison to the current flat, square shapes. The new design has additional cutting edges, positive rake face, lowered cutting forces resulting in increased performance. The carbide inserts are screw-clamped on the border of varied milling cutter types, providing unmatched conditions also for heavy-duty applications with excellent surface quality, saving additional finishing operations. End mills are presented for 90 degree shoulder milling and for facing with 45 degree lead angles.

Each carbide insert includes 8 cutting edges, 4 for right-hand and four for left-hand cutting, enhancing the economy of use. The two, toward-center-slanted cutting edges furnish on one side strong and accurate clamping of insert in the tool body, and on the other side, the positive axial rake angle. The use of this positive axial rake composition reduces the cutting forces owed to softer cut and easier penetration into the metal, as well as changing force direction which is required for use on modern machining centers with pallet systems less stable than on the classical transfer lines.

In normal applications like in the automotive industry, the depth-of-cut is less than thirty thousandths of an inch providing the use of all 8 cutting edges of the Tangmill carbide inserts. Furthermore, in the auto industry it is conventional to use a pair of cutters, one for right- and one for left-handed operations, which means that all 8 cutting edges of the Tangmill inserts can be applied.

New ISCAR UPGRADES for Fast Metal Removal

Newly born advancements coming from the headquarters of Iscar, delivering the new Upgrade campaign, which guarantees that they are looking toward the future. The new Upgrade movement, proposed to be made public at the end of year 2008, will offer revolutionary tools for milling, turning, hole making and multifunction operations, complementing the FMR (Fast Metal Removal) tool families with one aim in mind - to increase productivity on the shop floor and to expand profits.

Iscar's focal point for this year, with no doubt, are the new coatings, new substrate compositions, new cutting edge geometries, new sizes, new tangential clamping mechanisms and new coolant nozzle features. Iscar's future trends unite new carbide insert grades for effectual and time-saving machining, more cutting edges to each insert and exceptional tangential clamping mechanisms which can significantly lessen the cutting forces. The introduction of the AL-TEC, PVD coating largely for nodular cast iron, a-TECH, CVD coating principally for grey cast iron and the DO-TECH, dual CVD PVD coating for refined strength will refashion the way manufacturers machines cast iron. Furthermore, Iscar manufacturing mini inserts is an alternate trend within the Upgrade campaign, referring to reducing the sizes of the Tangmill carbide inserts into Minitang, in order to assist fine pitch configuration which will quicken feed rates. In addition, the nominal size of the carbide inserts and their tangential position in the pockets allow a much greater core diameter, in terms of tool configuration, when compared to regular radially oriented inserts.

Various Progressions Have Enhanced Iscar's Families Of Indexable Endmills For Increased Productivity
Helido-Upfeed 04 Two years ago Iscar introduced the extremely efficient H600 indexable endmill line, based on conceptually new Helido-Upfeed double sided inserts with 6 cutting edges. The first insert launched was the H600 WXCU 0806..., which was designed for milling cutters in the diameter range of 50 to 125 mm.

Iscar Adds Their Most Recent Innovations To A Extensive Line Of Successful Hole Generating Solutions
Iscar recently released several different drilling innovations to meet their customers needs. These new products are Sumocham Drill, DR-DH and Deep Drills. Drawing off of their experience Iscar has come up with new and innovative ways to increase productivity for the end user.

Iscar Recently Releases A Variety Of New Lines To Extend Their Family Of Milling Cutters
Iscar recently released a new family of High Speed Milling adjustable endmills and facemills that will improve milling of aluminum, non-metallics, cast iron and hardened steel. This should prove especially useful in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Cutting Edge Tools And Carbide Insert Shapes From Iscar To Better Enhance The Machining Method
Iscar is introducing Penta 34 carbide inserts with a new PB chipformer. The PB chipformer features a single cavity with a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle, and a honed edge. It is actually a C-type chipformer with a different frontal edge.

Revolutionary End Mills By Iscar Can Multiply Productivity While Reducing Costs
Manufacturers and die & mold shops can banish chatter problems in numerous milling operations with Iscar's new Chatterfree end mills. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern eliminates harmonic vibration, the primary source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling.
